Badminton is a game that involves rackets and a shuttlecock. Teams of should be divided evenly between two or four players. Each team is placed on wither side of the net.
The goal is to score points by hitting the shuttlecock over the net and having it hit the ground. Each side may only strike the shuttlecock once before it crosses the net over to the other side. The game play is very similar to tennis.
The fun element of badminton is the shuttlecock. It is designed to go in different directions, making it hard to anticipate where it will land. Some hits may float, while others may take an unexpected dive.
Badminton has official rules and is an Olympic sport. However, when playing in your yard, you may adjust the rules as you see fit to adapt to your environement. Just make sure both sidea are aware of the rules and they are clearly outlined before play begins. Most importantly, have fun!
